Bridget Baker, Corporate Public Relations Director at The Register Guard, will speak on the digital transformation in the newsprint industry - adapting, implementing and embracing new technologies, while continuing to provide traditional newsprint services that are still in demand. Bridget has led corporate planning, research and public relations for 30+ years with her family company, Guard Publishing, which publishes The Register-Guard newspaper in Eugene, OR.
Bridget received her MA in Journalism at The University of Oregon in 1985 and her BA from Lewis & Clark College in English, French and Theatre in 1977. She also spent her junior year abroad in France.
Bridget was the prime mover in the creation of the Baker Family Foundation and continues to serve as its Executive Director and President. She also serves as a trustee for Northwest Christian University and on the board of Grantmakers of OR & SW WA. She is the past board president of the Arts Foundation of Western OR, the Lane Metro Partnership, Round Table of Eugene, the Eugene Opera and Camp Fire Inc. She also served as local club president and district governor of Zonta International.
Bridget has earned many awards; the ones she is proudest of winning are the Chamber of Commerce Emerald Award for Community Caring in 2009 and Oregon Business Journal’s Corporate Philanthropy Award in 2007. She also had won numerous newspaper industry awards for campaigns and projects and has been named Woman of the Year by several local organizations.
