Women Making a Difference
“From Counting Beans to Changing Lives: My Journey” is the title of the June 2 presentation by Barb Attridge, retired executive director and co-founder of Dress for Success Oregon.
Learn what inspired Barb to leave a successful accounting career to build a non-profit organization from the ground up. In 2009 Dress for Success Oregon was honored as the most outstanding chapter of the international organization of Dress for Success.
Barb was honored in 2013 as Extraordinary Executive Director at Portland Monthly’s Light-a-Fire Awards. Most recently Barb and co-founder, Karen Fishel, received the Portland First Citizen Award to honor their civic achievement and business leadership in creating Dress for Success Oregon. The individuals who have received this award form an honor roll of the city’s most prominent leaders during the past eight decades.
Founded in 1998, Dress for Success Oregon began in a small office space in Northwest Portland and served 15 women a month. Now serving more than 120 women a month out of a large store in Northeast Portland, the organization has become an integral part of the community. Barb’s passion for helping women and her belief that all women have the ability to succeed remain at the heart of Dress for Success.
