Portlandia Club Luncheon June 2015
"Cultural Change, How Digital Media Transformed a Business"
Bridget Baker, Director, Corporate Public Relations at The Register-Guard will be our speaker at our June monthly luncheon. The bulk of Bridget’s career has been with her family company, Guard Publishing, which publishes The Register-Guard newspaper in Eugene OR. Her work there today is primarily corporate planning and research and she has significant marketing and public relations experience as well. Her professional goal is to help her company be profitable and central to the Eugene market for information and community service.
Bridget was the prime mover in the creation of the Baker Family Foundation and continues to serve as its Executive Director and President. Bridget has served on numerous non-profit boards and as president of six of them. Bridget loves developing human and financial resources to achieve strategic goals. One of the community programs I started is the Community Leaders/Volunteer of the Month Recognition Program, now in its 11th year, which increased voluntarism in Lane County by 27% in its first year alone.
Bridget will speak to us about how digital media transformed her family’s business and the cultural change that resulted from the transformation within their organization. The topic of change and transformation is exceedingly broad and cannot hope to be covered authoritatively by Portlandia members, should The Register-Guard devote every remaining paper to it for the remainder of our existence. So, Bridget will discuss a single change, its effect on a single organization, and how that organization’s own painful transformation has the potential to affect the thousands of lives it touches.
Valet parking is included.
