Girl Scouts Beyond Bars - Changing Girls' and Women's Lives For Good

The March program will feature two speakers from the Girl Scouts Beyond Bars program. Crystal Mourlas Jaun is the Community Outreach Coordinator for Dave's Killer Bead, promoting product donations for non-profits throughout the community and working with grant funding. Crystal serves on the Girls Scouts Beyond Bars Advisory Group in an unusual capacity: a former participant. Crystal was incarcerated at age 19 are participated in GSBB with her younger sister. She credits Girl Scouts for her now-close relationship with her sister and will share her experience as a prison inmate and how GSBB changed her life.

Madeline Baars serves as the full-time GSBB Program Coordinator. She is responsible for overseeing training and management for all GSBB program staff, volunteers, and interns. Ms. Baars is an Oregon native and is deeply committed to supporting underserved girls and families in her home state. She works closely with GSBB participants and community partners to improve the program on an ongoing basis. The Girl Scouts connects volunteers and interns with girls and women in the GSBB program. The staff collaborates with the Department of Justice to deliver the program, contributing to a positive outcome for girls and their incarcerated relatives.
