Is there a modern Fountain of Youth?
Nationally acclaimed author Lauren Kessler was determined to find out. To that end, she underwent hypnosis, zapped her face with lasers, ingested trendy compounds and measured her mitochondria to research her seventh nonfiction book, Counterclockwise: My Year of Hypnosis, Hormones, Dark Chocolate, and Other Adventures in the World of Anti-aging. She will tell us what she learned about living a long life with energy, stamina and health at Portlandia’s first luncheon of the year, January 9th, 11:30 a.m. at the Portland City Grill.
Kessler, who directs the Literary Nonfiction Program at the University of Oregon, has written several best-selling books, appeared twice on the Late Show with David Letterman and won the Oregon Book Award for Stubborn Twig. Her journalism has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, Los Angeles Times Magazine and O magazine.
