Portlandia Club Luncheon April 2019

A Portlandia Club Professional Development Series Presentation

The Art of the Arc - Moving Your Audience to YES!

Join Portlandia and Sue Parham for "The Art of the Arc" - Learn what those who deliver TED Talks know. Good presentations can become great when they incorporate story. The magic of storytelling is creating tension, anticipation, and ultimately moving your audience to YES! While facts, figures and bar charts might appeal to the logic of the left brain, they do not provide a clear pathway to the passion of the right. The fact is, in business, we need stories for our most important work: to gain credibility, persuade, call-to-action, obtain resources and make complex concepts easier to understand.

In this workshop:

  • Learn how to bring your ideas to life using storytelling structure
  • Become aware of the important stories that drive your values
  • Practice applying story structure to everyday challenges

--With the new year, we have a new location for our monthly luncheons. We will meet at the Girl Scouts of Oregon office building at 9620 SW Barbur Boulevard. It’s a lovely space, with a wall of windows, easy parking and removed from the downtown bustle.

With the venue change, we have a catered box lunch available for order during registration. Lunches must be paid for at time of registration. (Lunches will not be ordered if not pre-paid.) Please note your choice of box lunch during online registration, ahead of the event. Box Lunch choices are indicated in the menu section.

Those who are interested in the program only/no lunch, may pay at the door.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Cancellations: If the registrar receives a cancellation notice (via email to info@portlandia.org) from someone who has prepaid, by 5:00 pm on the Wednesday before the luncheon, the individual has two options. Option choice must be communicated to the registrar at the time of the cancellation:

  1. A credit will be held and applied to the following month’s lunch, but will not be held longer.  The credit must be used by the original payee and cannot be passed on to another person.  This will be tracked by the registrar and reported to the Treasurer.
  2. A refund can be obtained through Paypal.

No Shows: For those who have not provided the appropriate advance notice of non-attendance and who have paid in advance, they will lose the payment funds because lunch or beverage was ordered in advance and Portlandia Club still pays for the ordered meal or beverages for no shows.

Bookings are closed for this event.
