Why Does Oregon Need an Equal Rights Amendment Now?
We’ve come a long way, baby! Or have we?
Proponents of the Oregon Equal Rights Amendment on the ballot this November contend women have not come quite far enough. Leanne Littrell DiLorenzo, founder and president of VoteERA.org, will explain at our October 2 luncheon why she believes Oregon women need an Equal Rights Amendment to the state constitution. Backers of the ballot measure contend that women’s rights are safest when they are locked into the constitution, not just temporarily covered by statute or case law. DiLorenzo will discuss the history of the ERA at the state and federal level and why women’s rights may be at risk in today’s political environment.
