Power Hour Lines for Life

Join us on Tuesdays for a topical noontime chat via Zoom!

Portlandia offers content-driven Zoom calls on most Tuesdays, from noon-1:00. Each call will have a topic, a leader and great conversation and connections.

September 22 - Lines for Life, Judy Cushing

September is Suicide Prevention Month. Please join us for a presentation on mental health, including a discussion on anxiety and depression, and what we can do to help ourselves and others during the stress-filled time.

Judy Cushing, founder and CEO emeritus of Lines for Life, has been a leader in the substance abuse prevention field for 30 years. For the past 15 years she has served as CEO of Lines for Life (formerly Oregon Partnership), Portland, Oregon, a statewide nonprofit that she founded in 1993. Lines for Life Crisis Lines receive approximately 35,000 calls per year. The staff are able to de-escalate 98 percent of the 17,000 suicide calls we receive. The Military Helpline offers free, anonymous assistance 24/7/365 to active duty service members, veterans and their families through telephone and text support. The YouthLine offers a confidential teen-to-teen phone line and texting to help youth deal with bullying, depression, substance abuse or other issues that can make those years especially painful.  Judy’s expertise in the area of mental health is exceptional and the discussion will be especially relevant during this time. Please plan to attend and invite friends as well.

Call join details will be sent in the Portlandia weekly event updates. We hope you will join us for part or all of our Power Hours!
